Gawler Rail Revitalization
The Gawler line revitalization has upgraded the track and key stations in preparation for electric trains on the Adelaide transport network in 2013. The new rail network is faster, smoother and more reliable.
The track has been completely upgraded and includes replacement and refurbishment of existing steel rails, upgrading the track base and concrete sleepers. Eleven level crossings have been upgraded, and a "turn-back" facility at Elizabeth provides more frequent services.
Engineering Surveys survey had up to 9 survey teams on this project using Trimble S6 robotic total stations to great effect with rail crews and tamping machines slashing construction times significantly.
